Otoplasty

The otoplasty techniques vary according to the type of correction needed. The specific technique chosen by the plastic surgeon will determine the location of the incisions and the resulting scars.

The doctor can make incisions:

  • On the back of the ears

  • In the internal folds of the ears

After making the incisions, the doctor can remove excess cartilage and skin. Next, he will fold the cartilage until it is in the correct position and fix it with internal points. Additional points will be used to close the incisions. In general, the procedure takes about two hours.

After an otoplasty, the ears are covered with bandages to protect and hold them. You are likely to feel discomfort or itching. Take analgesics as recommended by the doctor. If you take painkillers and the discomfort increases, contact the doctor immediately.
